The most common mistakes when using body wax – and how to avoid them
See the three most common mistakes when waxing and learn how to achieve smoother skin with less effort.

Starting with home waxing but something isn’t working? Don’t worry – there are a few typical mistakes almost everyone makes in the beginning. In this video, we’ll show you how to spot and fix them. With the right technique and a little practice, wax will become your best ally for smooth and beautiful skin.
What you’ll need:
- Wax heater
- Body wax WaXx
- Spatula
Step-by-step: The most common mistakes and the correct solutions
- Mistake 1: The wax is too runny
If the wax looks transparent, overly liquid, and runs quickly off the spatula – it’s too hot. This can cause burns and poor application. Solution: Wait for the wax to cool and reach the consistency of thick honey before using it.
- Mistake 2: Incorrect spatula handling
A very common mistake is not holding the spatula perpendicular and spreading the wax “straight on.” This leads to uneven application. Solution: Hold the spatula at a slight angle and apply with smooth, oval movements. This way the layer will be even and easy to remove.
- Mistake 3: Applying in the wrong direction
Applying against the direction of hair growth often causes pain, hair breakage, and weaker results. Solution: Always apply the wax in the direction of hair growth and pull in the opposite direction.
Tips from the WaXx Me team:
- Always work on clean and dry skin.
- Don’t rush – take your time to get a feel for the movement and the wax temperature.
- Remember: great results start with the right technique.
