Body waxing mistakes and how to avoid them
Learn the most common mistakes when applying body wax and how to easily avoid them for better results.

Body wax can be super effective – as long as it’s used correctly. In this video, we’ll show you a few common mistakes that interfere with proper wax application. You’ll also see how to easily fix these habits to make waxing faster, easier, and irritation-free.
What you’ll need:
- Body wax WaXx
- Wax heater
- Spatula
Step-by-step: Common mistakes and their solutions
- Mistake 1: Incorrect application
Many people apply wax like cream or oil – with broad, gliding motions. This leads to uneven coverage and ineffective hair removal. Solution: Hold the spatula perpendicular to the skin and apply with pressure, shaping an oval with a well-defined edge for easier removal.
- Mistake 2: Incorrect spatula handling
When the spatula is held at an angle, the application becomes uneven, and the layer is either too thin or too thick. Solution: Keep the spatula upright (perpendicular to the skin) and move confidently with slight pressure – this way you control the direction and thickness of the layer.
- Mistake 3: Dipping instead of scooping
Dipping the spatula into the wax without scooping results in too little product and the wrong texture. Solution: Scoop and “wrap” the wax around the spatula by slightly rotating your wrist – this ensures you have the right amount at the right temperature and consistency.
Tips from the WaXx team:
- If the wax is difficult to pull off, check the consistency – it might be too hot or applied incorrectly.
- Always make sure you work on clean, dry skin.
With these small but important adjustments, you’ll achieve much better results – and feel more confident with every session. Check out our other videos for more tips and tricks.
